- 6 bone-in pork chops (about 1-inch thick)
- 3 tbsp olive oil (or vegetable oil)
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 5 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional, for tang)
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp dried thyme (or rosemary)
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt (to taste)
- 1/2 tsp black pepper (to taste)
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare Pork Chops
- Pat pork chops dry with paper towels.
- Season generously on both sides with salt, pepper, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder.
Step 2: Sear the Pork Chops
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add pork chops in batches (don’t overcrowd).
- Sear each side for about 3–4 minutes until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
Step 3: Make the Garlic Butter Sauce
- Reduce heat to medium. In the same skillet, add butter.
- Toss in the sliced onions and sauté until soft and caramelized.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook until fragrant (about 1 minute).
- Add chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and thyme. Stir well.
- Pour in heavy cream and let the sauce simmer for 3–5 minutes until slightly thickened.
Step 4: Smother the Chops
- Return pork chops to the skillet, nestling them into the sauce.
- Spoon sauce over the chops. Cover and simmer on low heat for 10–15 minutes, until pork is tender and cooked through (internal temp: 145°F / 63°C).
Step 5: Serve
- Sprinkle fresh parsley on top.
- Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or roasted veggies.
Tips & Variations:
- Add mushrooms to the sauce for an earthy twist.
