Full Crochet Pattern – Suspended Spiral Decoration with Flowers
This pattern is reconstructed from the photo. The original designer’s exact stitch counts cannot be determined from the image alone, so the instructions below are a close, workable version designed to reproduce the same look.
Materials
- Worsted/medium-weight cotton yarn
- Turquoise/blue yarn
- Yellow/gold yarn
- Red yarn
- Dark green yarn
- Small amount of green yarn for flower centers
- Crochet hook 3–3.5 mm
- 6–8 decorative beads in yellow, green and red
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
- Polyester stuffing
- Strong thread or thin cord

1. Spiral Hanging Body
The spiral is made from a long, colorful crocheted strip that is wrapped around a central cord.
Color arrangement
From the outside toward the center:
Turquoise → Yellow → Red → Dark Green
The green center forms the narrow spine of the spiral.
Foundation
With turquoise yarn:
Ch 85
Do not join.
Row 1 – Turquoise
Starting in the 2nd chain from hook:
Sc in each stitch across.
You should have 84 sc.
Turn.
Row 2 – Turquoise
Ch 1, sc across.
Fasten off.
Yellow Section
Join yellow yarn along one long edge of the turquoise strip.

2. Shape the Spiral
The most important part is the shaping.
Place a strong cord vertically from the top to the bottom of the decoration.
Starting at the top of the crochet strip, wrap the strip around the cord in a wide spiral, leaving approximately 5–7 cm between each turn.
Arrange it so that:
- the turquoise edge faces outward
- yellow sits inside the turquoise
- red sits inside the yellow
- green remains closest to the center
- each turn is evenly spaced
- the strip gradually forms a corkscrew shape
Use a tapestry needle and green yarn to make a few discreet stitches around the central cord at the top, middle and bottom.
Do not sew the entire spiral closed. The open spacing is what creates the suspended effect seen in the photograph.
For a more rigid decoration, lightly apply fabric stiffener after shaping and allow it to dry completely.
3. Top Hanging Cord
Cut approximately 45–60 cm of strong cord.
Fold it in half and secure the folded end to form a hanging loop.
At the bottom of the cord, attach the beginning of the crochet spiral.
Thread on:
- Yellow bead
- Green bead
- Red bead
Secure each bead with a small knot.
4. Bottom Bead Arrangement
At the bottom of the spiral, attach another group of beads:
- Yellow
- Green
- Red
Leave enough cord underneath for the flower.
5. Crochet Flower
Use yellow yarn.
Round 1
Make a magic ring.
Ch 2, 10 dc into ring.
Pull the ring closed.
Join with a sl st.
You should have 10 stitches.
Fasten off.
Flower Petals
Join yellow yarn into any stitch.
Repeat around:
(Sl st, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 2, sl st) in the same stitch.

6. Flower Center
Using dark green yarn:
Make a small magic ring.
6 sc into ring.
Pull closed.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail.
Sew the green center securely onto the middle of the yellow flower.
For the flower shown in the photograph, make the center slightly raised by adding a tiny amount of stuffing underneath it.
7. Attach the Flower
Use the remaining cord at the bottom of the spiral.
Pass the cord through the center of the flower.
Secure it firmly at the back with several knots.

Change to yellow.

Continue increasing evenly until the circle reaches approximately 7–9 cm in diameter.
Fasten off.
9. Rounded Back of the Base
Using dark green yarn:
Work several rounds of sc without increases around the outer edge to create a shallow bowl.
Continue until the side measures approximately 2–3 cm deep.
Stuff lightly if desired.
Decrease gradually to close the opening.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
This produces the rounded green backing visible behind the colorful circular motif.
10. Assembly
For one complete hanging decoration:
- Make the long multicolor crochet strip.
- Attach it to the central cord.
- Shape it into a loose corkscrew spiral.
