Materials

• DK or sport weight cotton yarn:
  • Red
  • White
  • Green
• 3.0–3.5 mm crochet hook
• Fiberfill (optional for the stars)

Abbreviations

• ch = chain

Spiral Strip

Foundation:

• Ch 180–220 (adjust for desired length).

Row 1:

• Work 1 sc in the 2nd chain from hook.
• Sc in each chain across.

Row 2:

• Ch 1, turn.
• Work 3 sc in every stitch across.
• The strip will naturally curl into a spiral.

Border:

• Crochet one round of sc around the strip.
• Change colors every few rows (red, white, green) or crochet separate colored strips and join them side by side for the striped effect.

Five-Point Star (Make 7–9)

Round 1:

• Magic ring, 10 sc, join.

Round 2:

• Repeat 5 times.
• Fasten off.

Make:

• 1 large star for the top.
• Several small stars for hanging decorations.

Assembly

1. Insert floral wire or a pipe cleaner inside or behind the spiral strip.
2. Twist gently into a spiral shape.
3. Sew the large star to the top.
4. Attach small crochet stars on short yarn cords along the spiral.
5. Add jingle bells between the hanging stars.
6. Secure all ends and shape the spiral evenly.
