This crochet pattern is designed to recreate the Christmas tree-shaped cutlery holders shown in the photo. The pattern is worked in rows and uses simple stitches.

Finished Size
Approximately 20–24 cm tall and 14–16 cm wide, depending on yarn and hook size.
Tree Holder
Row 1
With your chosen tree color, ch 2.
Work 2 sc into the second chain from the hook.
Turn.
Row 2
Ch 1.
2 sc in the first stitch.
1 sc in the next stitch.
Turn.
3 sts.
Row 3
Ch 1.
2 sc in the first stitch.
Sc across.
Turn.
4 sts.
Row 4

Continue increasing by 1 stitch at the beginning of every row until you have approximately 15–17 stitches.
Creating the Christmas Tree Shape
Now begin forming the characteristic layered triangular edges.
Row 1
Ch 1.
Sc across.
Turn.
Row 2
Ch 1.
2 sc in the first stitch.
Sc across.
Turn.
Row 3
Ch 1.
Sc across.
Turn.
Repeat Rows 2–3 several times, creating gradually wider sections.
For a more pronounced Christmas-tree appearance, make small scalloped points along the sides by working:
Sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc
in consecutive stitches.
Repeat the scallop pattern across the row.
Continue until the tree reaches approximately 18–20 cm tall.
Tree Top
At the top, decrease gradually.
Sc2tog across the first two stitches at the beginning of each row.
Continue decreasing until 2–3 stitches remain.
Fasten off and weave in the end.
Making the Pocket
To turn the tree into a cutlery holder, make a second triangular piece approximately the same width but slightly shorter.
Place the second piece over the front of the tree.
Using the same yarn, crochet or sew around both sides and the bottom edge.
Leave the top open.
This creates the pocket where the fork and spoon are inserted.
Tree Trunk
With brown yarn:
Ch 6.
Sc in the second chain from hook and across.
Continue working approximately 5–6 rows of sc.
Fasten off.
Fold or shape the small rectangle into a compact trunk and sew it to the bottom center of the tree.
Alternatively, make a small stuffed trunk:
Ch 6, join into a ring, then work several rounds of sc and lightly stuff before closing.
Decorative Edging
For the fluffy Christmas-tree effect visible in the photo, work a decorative border around the outer edges.
Along each side:
Sc in first stitch, hdc in next, dc in next, hdc in next, sc in next.
Repeat this sequence to create repeated pointed branches.
You can also add a final round of slip stitches for a neat finish.
Assembly
- Place the front pocket over the main tree.
- Align the bottom and side edges.
- Sew both sides securely.
- Keep the top completely open.
- Attach the brown trunk at the bottom.
- Hide all yarn tails inside the back.
- Insert a spoon and fork to check the pocket depth.
