Hanging Loop
Using the desired color, chain 35. Work 1 single crochet into each chain. Join to form a hanging loop.
Six-Point Crochet Star
Make two identical stars.
Round 1: Work 12 single crochet into a magic ring.
Round 2: Increase evenly to 24 stitches.
Round 3: Form six points by repeating: single crochet, half double crochet, 3 double crochet, half double crochet, single crochet.
Join both stars together with single crochet around the edge. Lightly stuff if desired. Decorate the center with layered petals, pearls, beads, or embroidery.
Spiral Section
Using red and green yarn, chain 180–220.
Row 1: Work 1 single crochet into each chain.
Row 2: Work 3 single crochet into every stitch to create a natural spiral.
For a thicker spiral, crochet a second strip in green and sew both strips together. Wrap around floral wire if extra support is desired. Decorate with pearls, holly leaves, flowers, and gold beads.
Crochet Ball
Round 1: 6 single crochet in a magic ring.
Round 2: Increase to 12 stitches.
Round 3: Increase to 18 stitches.
Rounds 4–6: Work 18 single crochet.
Stuff firmly.
Round 7: Decrease to 12 stitches.
Round 8: Decrease to 6 stitches.
Fasten off and decorate with flowers.
Bell
Round 1: 6 single crochet in a magic ring.
Round 2: Increase to 12 stitches.
Round 3: Increase to 18 stitches.
Round 4: Increase to 24 stitches.
Rounds 5–10: Work 24 single crochet.
Finish the edge with shell stitches by working 5 double crochet into every second stitch around the edge.
Decorate with holly leaves, berries, ribbon, or embroidery. Attach a large gold jingle bell underneath.
Holly Leaf
Chain 8.
Work slip stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, treble crochet, double crochet, half double crochet along the chain. Continue on the opposite side to complete the leaf.
Make three leaves.
Holly Berries
Work 6 single crochet into a magic ring. Pull closed tightly. Make three berries and sew them together.
Small Flower
Work 10 single crochet into a magic ring.
Repeat five or six times: chain 2, 2 double crochet, chain 2, slip stitch.
Sew into the center of the ornament.
Assembly
Attach the hanging loop to the star.
Join the spiral beneath the star.
Decorate the spiral with flowers, holly leaves, pearls, and beads.
Attach either the crochet ball or the crochet bell to the bottom.
Finish by attaching a large gold jingle bell.
Steam lightly and shape the ornament before display.
