Ingredients
For the apples
4 apples, peeled and sliced
2 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
For the batter
3 eggs
120 g sugar (about 1/2 cup)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
100 ml milk (about 1/2 cup)
100 ml vegetable oil (about 1/2 cup)
200 g flour (about 1 1/2 cups)
1 tablespoon baking powder
A pinch of salt
Instructions
In a pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced apples, sugar, and cinnamon. Cook for about 8–10 minutes until the apples are soft and lightly caramelized. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
In a bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy. Add vanilla, milk, and oil, and mix well.
In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until smooth.
Grease and line a cake pan. Arrange the cooked apples evenly in the pan.
Pour the batter over the apples, spreading it evenly.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 35–40 minutes or until golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Let the cake cool slightly, then invert onto a plate if desired. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Tips
Use slightly tart apples for better flavor balance
Do not overmix the batter to keep it soft
