Materials
- DK or Sport weight yarn
- 2.5–3.0 mm crochet hook
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
Abbreviations
- MR = Magic Ring
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- inc = 2 sc in same stitch
- sl st = slip stitch
Base
Ch 61.
Row 1:
Starting in the 2nd chain from hook:
2 sc in each chain across (120 sc).
Fasten off, leaving a long tail.
The strip will naturally curl into a spiral.
Decorative Border (Optional)
Join yarn at one end.
Work:
sl st, ch 2, sl st into every second stitch along one edge.
Fasten off.
Hanging Cord
Ch 40–60 depending on desired hanging length.
Fold into a loop.
Join securely to the top of the ornament.
Bottom Cord
Cut a 20–25 cm strand.
Thread through the bottom of the spiral.
Add two wooden beads if desired.
Tassel
Wrap yarn around a piece of cardboard 35–40 times.
Tie tightly at the top.
Wrap another strand around the neck 8–10 times.
Trim the ends evenly.
Attach to the bottom cord.
Decorations
Sew miniature gift boxes, bells, snowflakes, stars, beads, or tiny bows onto the spiral at even intervals.
Finished Size
Approximately 20–30 cm (8–12 inches) long, depending on yarn weight, hook size, and starting chain length.
