Embroider the jack-o’-lantern face using black yarn.
Hood
Using black yarn, chain enough to fit around the pumpkin. Work rows of sc with increases near the top to form a pointed hood. Finish the edge with one round of white crab stitch or picot edging.
Body
Round 1: MR, 6 sc.
Increase evenly until 24 stitches.
Work straight for 12 rounds.
Decrease gradually to shape the waist.
Stuff lightly.
Spiral Skirt
Chain 120.
Starting in the second chain, work 3 sc in every chain.
The strip naturally curls into a spiral.
Join to the lower body.
Work one round of white edging around both sides.
Add small orange embroidered flowers if desired.
Wings (Make 2)
Chain 45.
Work rows of mesh using dc, ch 2, skip 2.
Repeat to create an open lace effect.
Create scalloped edges with (sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc).
Finish with white picot edging.
Sew securely to both sides of the body.
Insert thin floral wire if stiffer wings are preferred.
Horns (Make 2)
MR 4 sc.
Increase to 8 stitches.
Work straight for 8 rounds.
Stuff lightly.
Sew to hood.
Add orange pom-poms on the tips.
Hanging Loop
With black yarn, chain 35.
Join into a loop.
Attach securely to the top of the hood.
Pumpkin Charm
Round 1: MR 6 sc.
Round 2: Increase to 12.
Round 3: Increase to 18.
Rounds 4–7: 18 sc.
Decrease to close.
Stuff firmly.
Embroider the jack-o’-lantern face.
Attach to the bottom of the spiral with a small loop.
Assembly
Sew the pumpkin head inside the hood.
Attach the hood to the body.
Sew both wings symmetrically.
Attach the spiral skirt underneath.
Add decorative orange beads and mini pumpkins to the wings.
Attach the hanging loop.
Steam lightly to shape the spiral and wings.
