Ooey Gooey Mozzarella Sticks

Ingredients:

12 sticks of string cheese
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs, beaten
1 cup breadcrumbs (Italian or seasoned)
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Vegetable oil, for frying
Marinara sauce, for dipping

Directions:

Cut each string cheese stick in half to make 24 shorter sticks.
Place the flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs in three separate shallow bowls.
In a bowl, mix together the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder.
Dip each cheese stick into the flour, shaking off any excess.
Dip the floured cheese stick into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off.
Roll the cheese stick in the breadcrumb mixture, ensuring it is evenly coated.
Place the coated cheese sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
Fry the mozzarella sticks in batches for about 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
Remove the mozzarella sticks from the oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
Serve the mozzarella sticks hot with marinara sauce for dipping.
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 25 minutes
Servings: Makes 24 mozzarella sticks
Tips:
For extra crispiness, you can double-coat the mozzarella sticks by dipping them in the beaten eggs and breadcrumbs twice.
Be sure to freeze the coated cheese sticks for at least 30 minutes before frying to prevent them from melting too quickly in the hot oil.
If you prefer a healthier option, you can bake the mozzarella sticks in a preheated 400°F (200°C) oven for about 8-10 minutes until golden brown.
