Crochet Spiral Christmas Ornament

Materials

• Crochet yarn in your chosen colors: burgundy, ivory, green, beige, sage, etc.

• Small metallic beads or pearl beads
• Gold/silver hanging cord
• Small Christmas charms: star, snowflake, bell, or stocking

• MR = magic ring
• sc = single crochet
• inc = increase
• sl st = slip stitch
• ch = chain

1. Base
2. Make a magic ring.
3. Crochet 6 sc into the ring.
4. Pull the ring closed.
5. Continue working in rounds.
6. Create the spiral

• Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around — 12 sts.
• Round 3: (sc, inc) around — 18 sts.
• Round 4: (2 sc, inc) around — 24 sts.
• Continue with sc while gradually increasing only when necessary to keep the piece slightly open.
• Work several rounds until you have a long, flexible spiral.
• To create the characteristic corkscrew shape, make the outer edge slightly wider than the inner edge.
• Finish with a sl st and weave in the yarn end.

Decorative Beads

Sew small metallic beads or pearls along the spiral, spacing them evenly from top to bottom.

Top

Attach a small star or snowflake charm to the top using a strong thread or gold cord.

Bottom

Attach a small bell, snowflake, or Christmas stocking charm to the bottom.

Hanging Loop

Attach a 15–20 cm piece of gold or silver cord at the top and make a secure knot.

Finishing

Gently stretch and shape the crochet spiral so the curves are even. Make several ornaments in different Christmas colors and hang them together on a metal display stand.
