Serrated Edge

Work around the leaf:

Repeat around every edge to create pointed teeth.

At the tip:

  • (sc, ch 4, sl st back, sc)

Repeat on both sides.

Leaf Vein

Join yarn at base.

  • Ch to tip using sl sts.
  • Add diagonal veins:

    • Sl st back into center vein.
    • Repeat every 2–3 stitches on alternating sides.

This creates the realistic vein texture.

Vine

Using brown yarn:

Arrange leaves naturally with alternating directions.

Attach each leaf securely using slip stitches or sewing yarn ends into the vine.

  • Sl st in every stitch for a crisp finish.

Finishing

  • Weave in all ends.
  • Steam block lightly.
  • Shape every leaf tip by hand.
  • Arrange the branches before final blocking for a flowing woodland appearance.

The finished table runner will have a cascading vine design with richly textured serrated leaves, closely resembling the one shown in your image. I can also create a stitch diagram or a printable crochet chart for this pattern.
