Decadent Chocolate Bundt Cake

Decadent Chocolate Bundt Cake

Ingredients

For the Cake:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder (Dutch-process preferred)
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk (room temperature)
  • ½ cup vegetable oil (or melted butter)
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot brewed coffee (or hot water for milder flavor)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (folded into batter)

For the Chocolate Glaze:

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For Topping:

  • ½ cup extra chocolate chips (sprinkled on top while glaze is warm)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Pan

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Generously butter and flour a 10-12 cup Bundt pan (or use baking spray with flour).

Step 2: Make the Cake Batter

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla.
  3. Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry, mixing until just combined.
  4. Stir in the hot coffee – the batter will be thin but smooth.
  5. Fold in 1 cup of chocolate chips for an extra chocolatey kick.

Step 3: Bake the Cake

  1. Pour batter into the prepared Bundt pan.
  2. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean (a few moist crumbs are fine).
  3. Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then carefully invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 4: Make the Glaze

  1. In a small saucepan, heat heavy cream until just simmering (do not boil).
  2. Pour cream over 1 cup chocolate chips and butter in a bowl.
  3. Let sit 2 minutes, then stir until smooth and glossy.
  4. Stir in vanilla extract.

Step 5: Glaze the Cake

  1. Place cooled cake on a serving plate.
  2. Pour warm glaze over the top, letting it drip naturally down the sides.
  3. Sprinkle with extra chocolate chips for garnish.

Tips & Variations

  • Extra Moisture: Add ½ cup sour cream to the batter for richer texture.
  • Mocha Twist: Use espresso instead of coffee for deeper flavor.
  • Holiday Version: Add peppermint extract and crushed candy canes on top.
  • Nutty Crunch: Sprinkle chopped toasted pecans, walnuts, or hazelnuts with the glaze.

Benefits

  • Rich in antioxidants: Dark cocoa and chocolate have flavonoids.
  • Mood booster: Chocolate increases serotonin levels, lifting your mood.
  • Crowd-pleaser: Perfect for birthdays, holidays, or Sunday dessert.

Conclusion

This Chocolate Bundt Cake is a show-stopper – moist, dense, and dripping with glossy chocolate glaze. It’s the ultimate indulgence for chocolate lovers, simple enough for a casual dessert yet elegant enough for special occasions.
