Finished Size

Approximately 50–70 cm (20–28 inches) long, depending on the number of spiral rounds.

Spiral Pattern

Ch 170–200.

Row 1: Starting in the 2nd chain from the hook, work 2 sc in every chain across.

Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Work 2 sc in each stitch across. The extra increases will naturally form a spiral.

For a fuller spiral, alternate (2 sc, 2 sc, 3 sc) in each stitch across.

Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Snowflake Motif (Make 7–9)

Round 1: MR, 6 sc, join.

Round 2: (Ch 5, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc, hdc, dc back to the center, sl st into next stitch) repeat 6 times.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Hanging Icicles (Optional)

Attach yarn to the tip of each snowflake.

Ch 8–12.

Work sl st back along the chain.

Repeat 2–4 times on each snowflake for a frosty effect.

Assembly

Attach the snowflakes evenly along the center of the spiral.

Sew one snowflake at the top and one at the bottom.

Leave equal spacing between all remaining snowflakes.

Add a hanging loop with 20–25 chains.

Steam or lightly starch the ornament to help it hold its shape.

Formation

Create the long spiral first.

Crochet all snowflakes separately.

Make the decorative icicles.

Attach every snowflake to the spiral.

Secure all yarn ends.

Block and shape the finished ornament.

Finishing Tips

Use cotton yarn for crisp snowflake details.

Block every snowflake before attaching.

Apply light starch for extra firmness.

Add pearl beads or clear crystal beads for a sparkling winter look.

Store flat after the holiday season to maintain the spiral shape.

Conclusion

This elegant Crochet Snowflake Spiral Christmas Ornament is a beautiful handmade decoration for Christmas trees, windows, stair railings, or doorways. The flowing spiral combined with delicate snowflakes creates a festive winter display that is lightweight, reusable, and perfect for holiday decorating or gifting.
